What is the function of the car oil pump

Many friends who are familiar with cars are not necessarily familiar with electric vehicles, so today I will introduce to you what the role of the car oil pump is. Electric oil pump, also known as electric hydraulic jack, is composed of hydraulic cylinder and electric pump station, which can realize various forms of operations such as jacking, pushing, pulling, and extrusion.

The function of the oil pump is to send the oil to the friction parts of the engine, so that the oil circulates in the lubrication circuit to ensure that the engine is well lubricated. The oil pump is mostly a gear pump, which consists of a gear pump body and the like. When the engine is working, the camshaft drives the driving gear of the pump body to rotate. The gear throws the oil from the oil inlet to the oil outlet along the inner wall of the pump, forming a low pressure and generating suction, and the oil in the oil tank is sucked into the oil inlet. The oil at the oil outlet accumulates more and more, so the pressure increases, and the oil is pressed to each friction part to achieve forced lubrication

The function of the automobile oil pump is to suck the gasoline out of the fuel tank, and press it into the float chamber of the carburetor through the pipeline and the gasoline filter, so that the automobile engine has the power to start, thereby starting the vehicle. It is thanks to the petrol pump that the petrol tank can be placed at the rear of the car away from the engine and below the engine.

The function of the gasoline pump is to supply the fuel required by each injector and the cold start injector. There are generally two types of electric gasoline pumps used in electronically controlled gasoline injection systems, namely roller-type electric gasoline pumps and vane-type electric gasoline pumps. In the roller type electric gasoline pump, one end of the pump casing is the oil inlet and the other end is the oil outlet. The roller pump on the oil inlet side is driven at high speed by the drive motor in the middle of the pump casing. The rotor is installed eccentrically in the pump body, and the rollers are installed in the grooves of the rotor.

When the oil pump rotates, due to the action of centrifugal force, the rollers in the rotor groove move outwards and abut against the eccentrically designed pump body wall. At the same time, under the action of inertial force, the roller is always in close contact with one side of the rotor groove, thereby forming several working chambers. During the working process, the volume of the working chamber on the side of the oil inlet increases, becoming a low-pressure oil suction chamber, and gasoline is sucked into the working chamber through the oil inlet. The volume of the working chamber on the oil outlet side is reduced to become a high pressure oil chamber, and the high pressure gasoline flows out from the oil pressure chamber through the oil outlet.

There is a one-way valve at the oil outlet of the oil pump, which prevents the fuel from flowing back to the fuel tank when the oil pump is not working, so as to maintain the fuel pressure after the engine is stopped and facilitate restarting. The buffer at the oil outlet is used to reduce the oil pressure pulsation and running noise at the oil outlet. The maximum pump oil pressure of this kind of oil pump can reach more than 0.45MPa. If the oil pressure on the oil outlet side of the oil pump is too high due to the blockage of the gasoline filter and other reasons, the pressure limiting valve integrated with the oil pump will be pushed open, so that part of the fuel will return to the oil inlet side to protect the electric gasoline pump.
